The police drag net has nabbed another major suspect thought to be connected to the Matungu and Kilingili killings.
24-year-old Boniface Gubimiru alias Guga was nabbed on Friday night in Vihiga county as the search for the killers intensifies.
The suspect was arrested by officers from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit (SCPU) and is being held at the Mbale Police Station pending his arraignment, reports the Nation.
This comes days after the arrest of Kelson Liyenga alias Kevin Lienga, another suspected hardcore criminal allegedly involved in the killings, who was arrested in Kawangware in Nairobi county.
The two have also been linked to other cases of violent crimes initially, among them a chain of violent robberies that saw the legs of victims chopped off in Chavakali and Sabatia in 2017.
Speaking at Bulibo Primary School on Thursday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi and Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai noted that the government will suppress the gang.
Yhe authorities have since deployed the General Service Unit to deal with the issue.
A number of top politicians have also been nabbed in relation to the same, among them Kakamega Senator Cleopa Malala and former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
