Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert as Petr Cech’s replacement, according to a report in Germany.
German media outlet Bild, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Arsenal are looking at Schubert as a potential replacement for ex-Czech Republic international Petr Cech.
The same article states that Arsenal would be able to sign Schubert on a free transfer in the summer when his contract comes to an end at the German side.
According to the same story, the Gunners could even look to sign two goalkeepers ahead of the new Premier League season ahead of Dejan Iliev’s departure at The Emirates.
Schubert made 31 appearances in 2. Bundesliga last season to get vital experience under his belt at Dresden ahead of his 21st birthday in June.
The Dresden shot-stopper has played for Germany’s youth teams from the Under-16s up to the Under-21s to highlight his promising potential.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League for the third successive season.
The Gunners can still end the season on a high note if Unai Emery’s side manage to beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final in Baku later next Wednesday night.
