A woman killed a pregnant teenager, cut a baby from the girl’s womb then passed it off as her own, police say.
Clarisa Figueroa, 46, is accused of strangling Marlen Ochoa-Lopez after luring her to her home in Chicago’s Southwest side three weeks ago with the promise of free baby clothes.
She is then said to have taken nine months-pregnant Marlen’s baby from the teen’s womb, dialed 911 to say he wasn’t breathing – and launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise funds for the infant, who she named Xander.
The suspected killer was charged with first-degree murder Thursday, a day after Marlen’s remains were discovered in her backyard.
Her daughter Desiree Figueroa, 24, was charged with the same offense while Clarisa Figueroa’s boyfriend Piotr Bobak, 40, was charged with concealment of a corpse.
On Figueroa’s Facebook page, she claims her son Xavier Tio Fidel died in July 2017.
Screenshots of a chilling Facebook exchange she is said to have made with Marlen show her inviting the teenager over to collect baby clothes and a stroller after the young mother-to-be issued a Facebook appeal for help.
The Figueroa’s alleged crimes are said to have been busted after police discovered the GoFundMe page, which raised at least $1,255.
Figueroa is said to have dialed 911 while clutching a baby around the time of Marlen’s death, claiming that he was her son, and he could not breathe.
The boy, since named Yadiel was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a gravely ill condition.
DNA testing has confirmed that he is Marlen’s son.
