After winning 13 English Premier League titles, David Beckham has revealed that former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was successful because of his ability to change.
Beckham enjoyed huge success with Ferguson winning a Champions League title and six league crowns before making the switch to Real Madrid back in 2003. To date, Ferguson is the most decorated manager in the English Premier League era, winning 13 titles and two Champions League medals.
In an interview with Orto, Beckham revealed why Ferguson’s managerial career was successful, “There was one thing the boss was always good at — it’s why he was so good, why he’s the most decorated manager in football, why he was as successful as he was — was because he was always able to change.
“He would always go out and buy a great new player the next year, or two great new players — even after winning the treble, or the double, or winning the league. He knew you had to keep on improving. When it was time for me, Scholsey, Butty, Giggsy, Gary and Phil to come into the team, he sells Andrei Kanchelskis, Mark Hughes and Paul Ince — three of the best players in Man United history.
“We were all shocked but then that showed the faith he had in us as young players. But also when it was time for me to move on, it didn’t matter. He was ruthless in that way but that’s what makes him great, what makes him successful.”
