And United supporters immediately jumped on what it meant for current right-back Ashley Young.

The veteran has moved back into defence in recent years but endured a nightmare end to last season.

In his final eight appearances, United lost six times and drew twice.

The Man Utd Way tweeted: “Aaron Wan-Bissaka isn’t just an incredibly talented young player who we are so excited about, but we’re also excited it puts an end to the Ashley Young nightmare before we could deal with it any more.”

ShiShi was overjoyous, writing: “this means NO MORE TRASHLEY YOUNG.”

Mike added: “Welcome to Old Trafford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Ashley Young can meanwhile start a tattoo shop as the right-back seller.”

We Are United posted: “Signing Wan-Bissaka means a lot more than just getting a right-back, it means getting the useless Ashley Young out of our starting 11, FINALLY.”

Wan-Bissaka is expected to complete a medical soon, now his England Under-21 side are out of the European Championship.

He will earn a reported £80,000-a-week after Palace accepted his wishes to move following weeks of talks.
