MANCHESTER UNITED sent their scouts to Lisbon on Saturday to cast their eye over £120m transfer target Joao Felix.
Felix, 19, is deemed the next best thing in European football after an impressive debut season in the Benfica first-team.
But the Portuguese outfit will demand north of £100m for his signature this summer.
Benfica have already rejected offers of £75m from Juventus and other European clubs, according to reports.
However, Manchester United’s interest looks solid, despite the eye-watering transfer valuation.
Portuguese outlet Sapo are today reporting that a Red Devils official is in Lisbon at present having watched Felix play for Benfica on Saturday.
Scouts from CD Feirense, Real SC Massama, Everton FC, Macabi Tel Aviv, CF Benfica, Estoril-Praia, Montpellier HSC, Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Boavista and Bayer Leverkusen were all in attendance to watch various players.
The Portuguese league champions beat Santa Clara 4-1, with the youngster nabbing a goal in the first-half, to secure another title.
Felix has finished the season with 20 goal and a further 11 assists in 42 appearances.
And it looks like he could be on his way this summer.
Newspaper O Jogo claims that as well as Manchester United – Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City are all interested in Felix’s signature.
While Atletico Madrid are keen to sign the player to replace the departing Antoine Griezmann.
But Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira seems confident of holding onto the attacker for a big longer.
“He has a five-year contract and we don’t need to renew it,” he said recently.
“He has a clause of 120 million euros, we are not worried.”
Felix only made his debut in August but has since earned high praise from across Europe as well as at home.
“He’s a very talented player, very technical player,” Joao Tralhao, who coached Felix in the Benfica youth ranks told CNN Sport.
“His decision making qualities are absolutely amazing, outstanding.
“Elite level for sure.
“He is very humble, likes to work, likes to listen and has a competitive mentality”
