A woman has been charged in connection with the alleged murder of a baby boy in the NSW Hunter region.
Emergency services were called to a New Lambton home on February 9 following reports an infant had gone into cardiac arrest.
The six-month-old was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died the next day, police say, with a post-mortem examination determining he died from a traumatic head injury.
Detectives arrested a 28-year-old man a few days later and charged him with murder.
After further investigation, officers on Thursday arrested a 26-year-old woman at a home in Marrickville and charged her with perverting the course of justice and failing to provide for a child causing danger of death.
She was refused bail and is expected to face Newtown Local Court on Friday.
